story series: see the story

In our story series blog we have read about inspiring local leaders, and broken down the specifics of our clinics. This entry we are very proud to launch our inaugural foundation video which encapsulates our mission, our impact and best of all - the community.

Thank you to the very talented Oli Roe from Jerry Productions for his mastery behind the lens to capture the authenticity and spirit of the Dreamtime Academy.

Foundation video

If you want to succeed you need to put yourself out there, have confidence in yourself, and have pride in your community and where you come from.
— Courtney Hodder (Brisbane Lions)

When this first started, I’ll admit, I was ignorant about just how challenging this would be. I faced countless roadblocks, whether those be logistical, political or social. I questioned myself, “Is this really worth it?”

But with every challenge, I was met with greater hope. Many of the young women in this community have encountered more challenges in their short lives than I will face in my lifetime. If this program, alongside the RPTails program can change the trajectory for some of those individuals, this is more than worth it.

I can proudly say, Dreamtime Academy did just that. But how will it maintain that impact? Let’s talk about our partnership with local chairty, Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Foundation.

Redtails Pinktails Program - Defining the Partnership

The impact is huge but it needs to be maintained to be sustainable. This is the greatest challenge - sustainable impact. You’re probably asking, well how is this possible?

This is through the local Alice Springs program, Redtails Pinktails Right Tracks Foundation.

“Our mission is simple. We aim to develop great humans. What makes us special is our CONSISTENCY.”

-Rob Clarke (RPTails Founder)

Using football as a vehicle, the RPTails program provides a strong support network for young centralians to develop essential skills to be successful, confident and fulfilled in their lives. From football opportunities playing in the SANFLW, to employment, to building strong relationships with mentors, the RPTails program is about developing people who will dream big, be equipped for life’s tests and contribute meaningfully to their community.

Dreamtime Academy and the Redtails Pinktails Program are working side-by-side to deliver consistent and reliable opportunities for young central Australians.

Participants from Dreamtime Academy are now consistently engaged in the Pinktails program. On the other hand, existing pinktails players are working harder than ever so they can be selected as leaders for the next Dreamtime Academy.

  1. Engage

  2. Earn

  3. Own

  4. Lead

First, engage young people. Next, provide them the resources to earn their opportunity. When that opportunity arrives, they’re equipped to own it. Full of belief, respect and confidence, these players can lead the way for other young people in their community.

how to get involved?

If you want to help grow Dreamtime Academy and support our participants, we would love to hear from you. Whether you’re a business, sporting organisation, charity, or individual, we are always open to working with likeminded people who share the vision about paying it forward and facilitating opportunities for young people.
